From GamePedia: The Database for Video Games

As an FYI, in case you're going to put a "Weapon Type" section on all of your weapons, like I am (check out any of the FFTA weapons to see what I mean), here's the names I gave them. I think this part should be consistent, though names can be changed if need be, and if things change sections as well.

All weapons begin with #-Handed (# being one or two of course)

Anything under the Axes section = "#-Handed Axe"

Blunt = "#-Handed Blunt Weapon"

Close-range = "#-Handed Close-range Weapon"

Mid-range = "#-Handed Mid-range Weapon"

Swords = "#-Handed Sword"

Bows = "#-Handed Bow"

Guns/Cannons = "#-Handed Gun" or "#-Handed Cannon" (whichever applies, though I can see these splitting into different sections)

Other = "#-Handed Long-range Weapon"
